Prerequisite: Growing Ourselves Whole Therapy Group for People with a Loved One with BPD.
Past participants of Level 2 groups are welcome– a few are returning from prior Level 2 groups.
This group will take things further than Level 1:
- More tools for everyday life challenges
- Tools for intimate relationships
- We’ll deepen relationally with each other in the group
- In person participants can have touch support, if desired, for example a hand to hold or hands at your back as you speak.
In Growing Ourselves Whole we uncovered the impact of the intergenerational wounding of having a loved one with BPD. We worked on creating an inner voice of a loving parent, explored boundaries, shared stories, uncovered messaging, learned about BPD patterns, explored what we want, identified many of the ways that this upbringing impacts our lives today. We did this in a community of others with similar wounding, yet with highly varied backgrounds.
Level 2 will deepen and take these goals further, asking such questions as: What are the ways that I act out the intergenerational patterns? In what ways am I different? We will keep freeing ourselves of the patterning that plagues our loved one.
In order to anchor and sustain transformation, we’ll incorporate various modalities. These include: group interaction, somatic exercises, role plays, art therapy, story sharing, boundary setting and skills for emotional regulation. We will use group interaction to help us internalize an authentic sense of ourselves. This is to say, level two will be more relational, and will allow for cross talk and feedback.
Since this group will be comprised of members of various level one groups, we will form a new community. The commitment is to create safety for members of all backgrounds and identities.
Here are some themes we’ll work with:
- Safety What lets you know you’re safe? Can experiencing safety in this group help you notice safety in your life more?
- Nourishment What happens when you let in contact in the group? Can you notice when you don’t let it in? Are you letting it in more over time?
- Skills We’ll work on skills for somatic regulation and skills for interacting with our person with BPD (or similar). For example, can you practice not needing to fix things with your person and in other areas of your life?
- Your voice When do you speak your truth? What gets in the way? We’ll track this over time
- Validation The greatest antidote to the gaslighting of your past is being in a circle of people who are sorry for what happened to you. What’s it like when they literally feel your pain with you and for you?
- Being seen for your goodness When you’re in a weekly circle of people who see you in your highest self, can you start to integrate and believe in yourself in those ways too?
- What kind of contact do we currently have? Maybe your parent/loved one is aging, has died, or you’re not in contact with them. We’ll hold space for each other, regardless of our constellation in relation to our person.
You need to do Level 1 to learn how to deal with your past and present, and Level 2 to deal with your present and future. Level 1 is the awareness, and Level 2 is the tools.

There’s more space in me for love because the shame is getting smaller.
I wanted for a long time to connect with other people who came from monstrous backgrounds, but who weren’t becoming monsters too. This group helped me find a peace my ancestors couldn’t envision.
I see past the trauma to the person I am.
